Good evening everybody and welcome once again to Friday Football Extra. It is week 10 of the regular season and by the time this month is over, we'll be down to the final four in the state in all six classifications. In the next 30 minutes we'll check out 14 games many of which had serious playoff implications tonight.
[GRAPHIC=CAVE/PULASKI]

We begin with two teams in the River Ridge battling for playoff position in both division four and division three as Cave Spring hosted Pulaski County. Both teams had to have the blinders on tonight as Pulaski gets Salem next week and the Knights take on their rivals from Hidden Valley.

The game was down to the wire, but it was still somehwat overshadowed by the return of Tyler Lumsden. The former all-state pitcher for the Knights who is now working his way up in the big leagues with the White Sox had his jersey number 21 retired tonight.

We pick things up with less than a minute left in the first half and Cave on top 14-to-nothing. Kevin Crouse gets a key score for the Cougars right before intermission as he hauls in this 37 yard pass to make it 14-to-7. Now in the third, Crouse would continue to bring the Cougars back as he heads to the sideline and heads to the endzone. It's now a 14-to-14 game in the third. At the end of the third, Danny Aiken will step up for the Knights as he takes the Beau Austin pass over the middle and he turns in scores. But the extra point was blocked and it's 20-to-14 Knights. Now in the fourth with six minutes left in the game, Crouse gets his third TD of the night as he sweeps in off the right side to make it a 21-to-20 Pulaski lead after the extra point. Cave would come back and get in field goal range. And with four seconds left on the clock - the 33 yard attempt by Chafin Scott sails wide right.

It was a good night to cuddle and share some hot chocolate as temperatures in the New River Valley hit the low 40s. We pick it up with Hidden Valley on top 13-to-nothing in the third and the Titans looking to score some more, but the Christiansburg defense tightens and stops quarteback Tyler Coyer. On the next play, the Titans go for three and number 15 Kyle Curbow hits the field goal from 24 yards out to give the Titans a 16-to-nothing lead. Christiansburg would try to come alive and pull off another of its patented comebacks. Andrew Hoffer to Jacques LeBoone on the 22 pick-up for the Blue Demons. Later in that same drive, Hoffer looks to the endzone, but his pass is picked off by Coyer for the touchback as the Titans rise up and stop the Demons.

(( Everything about Kevin Crouse against Christiansburg was big. The game was big, matching two teams with combined records of 13 and 1. The super soph's numbers were big. 20 carries, 270 yards rushing and four touchdownss. Two of his TD runs were big, 69 and 79 yards each. In fact the only thing little about Crouse it seems..is his nick name. ((:))
Crouse also has a nick name for his ratehr enthusiastic coach. ((:))
All kidding aside, Christiansburg was a prime example of the relationship between player and coach as Turner gave the Blue Demons a heavy dose of Crouse. ((:)) Crouse stands only 5 foot 9 but packs 205 pounds on to that frame whcih makes him a bruising fullback, but he also hurt the Blue Demons with his speed. ((:)) ((:)) ((STEVE MASON:)) ((:))
Crouse also had 19 touchdowns through 8 weeks of the season.
