((The missed approach procedure for Blue Ridge Airport calls for an immediate right hand turn, but the plane did not alter its course.
According to the NTSB report, the plane was three miles past the airport when it fell below 1800 feet and controllers lost its altititude readout. Three minutes after that, the flight crew reported the missed approach, and the controller advised the crew to climb. But there were no more radio transmissions.
Investigators did not talk with anyone who saw the crash, but witnesses did hear the plane as it passed over the airport, and saw it as it approached Bull Mountain. Though the plane was flying very low, witnesses said the engine sounded fine.
The mountain was completely obscured by clouds and fog.))
[LIVE=Joe /FULL]
The airport's navigational equipment was working properly. The pilots were experienced and certified. The Beech 200 King Air had been inspected in June. While the plane had a Global Positioning System receiver, it was NOT equipped a cockpit voice recorder, a flight data recorder or a ground proximity warning system.

America's bulging waistlines are now weighing
down the airline industry, requiring more and more fuel to get
planes into the air.
A report out of the Centers for Disease Control says in the year
2000, airlines had to spend an extra 275 (m) million dollars on
fuel in order to carry the extra weight of passengers.
The government agency says it's highlighting the problem in
hopes that people realize the obesity epidemic has many serious
consequences.
The average weight of Americans rose by ten pounds in the
1990's. For airlines, that's meant tons of extra weight and fuel.
The air companies say they've already cut down on other types of
weight -- tossing thick magazines and moving from metal forks to
plastic ones.
