In California, there's speculation that the jury in Scott Peterson's double murder trial might be headed toward a stalemate.

It was a frightening ride to school for dozens of children in Indiana this morning.

Three of them were seriously injured after being trapped on their school bus when a truck rear- ended it.
Another 30 kids suffered bumps and bruises.
Both drivers were also injured.
The impact of the crash smashed in the last two rows of the
driver's side of the school bus.
The truck, meanwhile, careened off the road and ended up in the median.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The Hardy Road Trailer Park was built in the mid-1960's, and the government says it's never been right.
NEWS 7 documented conditions at the park more than a decade ago, citing numerous health issues, including questions of water quality.
Cooper got a permit to operate a sewage treatment lagoon in 1992. By the late 90's, according to this latest federal indictment Cooper was in violation of the order 87% of the time. The state Department of Environmental Quality issued Cooper 274 violation notices just between November of '98 and August, 2000.
Judge Glen Conrad released Cooper on bond, on the condition he not violate any state or federal laws.

The season has been a nightmare for the Dolphins. It has the N-F-L's worst record at one and seven.
The outlook for Wannstedt's future with the Dolphins was bleak even before the season began. Running back Ricky Williams made a startling announcement in late July that he was retiring from pro football,
leaving the team with no solution of replacing their star ball carrier as the season approached.
