Roanoke County Police are investigating the death of a retired officer, who apparently took his own life at the County's Public Safety Center over the weekend.
County police say Riley Meador had kept in contact with co-workers after his retirement in 2002. Saturday evening, he stopped by to visit.
A spokesman says Meador excused himself to go to a restroom, where investigators believe he shot himself.
Meador was involved in a shooting incident during a traffic stop in July 2001, but officials say he was well- liked by co-workers, and gave no indication he was contemplating suicide.
