As people start heading out of Roanoke for the Thanksgiving holiday, authorities have already had one mess on I-81 to deal with.
Around 8 this morning, a pair of chain-reaction accidents tied up traffic in the southbound lanes at the Roanoke-Montgomery County line.
State police say seven vehicles were involved, including three tractor-trailers.
Two people were taken to the hospital, with minor injuries.
Traffic is now moving fine.

Police say alcohol may have contributed to a deadly accident in Roanoke County last night.

Police say they're not sure who was driving the 19-86 Mazda when it crossed the center line, hit a culvert and went airborn at the intersection of Bent Mountain Road and Old Bent Mountain Road.
It happened around 10:30.
Jeffrey Wayne Fields was ejected from the car, and died.
Another un- identified person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Neither was wearing a seat belt.
Police say alcohol and speed may have been factors on the wet roads.

It could soon cost more to mail a letter.
The Wall Street Journal reports the U- S Postal Service wants to raise
the price of stamps to 41 cents, and could seek approval for it as early
as next year.
The last postal rate increase came in 2002.

Three weeks ago, several people were slightly injured after the steps crumbled under their feet.

The Civic Center which runs Victory Stadium has decided no repairs will be made until the citizen's committee makes a recommendation about the future of the facility.

An accused armed robber in Danville ran into some bad luck early this morning.
Shortly before two, officer George Stevenson was on duty at Sheetz on Riverside Drive, when a customer told him the place was being robbed.
With his gun drawn, Stevenson confronted the robber, who was pointing a B-B gun at the clerk.
The robber fled on foot, and the officer gave chase.

33 year old Gary Dale London of Danville was caught by Stevenson -- and was taken into custody after a brief scuffle.
He's charged with armed robbery, obstruction of justice, assault on a police officer, attempting to disarm an officer, wearing a mask in public and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
