A Roanoke County police officer was injured when his car ran off the road during a chase last night.

Authorities say officer J. R. Moore was chasing a black Ford Mustang headed toward Salem on Thompson Memorial Drive.
Just before 11 o-clock, the Mustang turned to get on Interstate 81 and officer Moore lost control of his cruiser as he tried to follow.
The police car ran down an embankment.
Moore was taken to an area hospital, though police wouldn't comment on his injuries.
The black Ford Mustang got away.

Lynchburg police say they know who allegedly shot a cab driver over the weekend, but they don't know where he is.

Officers say it was 21 year old Desuan Steven Johnson of Lynchburg who shot the cab driver early Sunday Morning.
Officers aren't sure where Johnson is, but say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The cab driver-- 51 year old James Marshall Crawford-- was shot twice as he ran from his vehicle at the intersection of Fifteenth and Grace Streets.
Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.

MeadWestvaco donated Falling Spring and its surrounding property to the Virginia State Park system. Unlike most falls in the Commonwealth that are cascades or slides, Falling Spring is a drop of about 150-feet "off an overhanging ledge." It's one of the most visited sites in the Alleghany Highlands, and officials say the donation is a big step toward increasing the area's recreation and tourism.
