Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident last night in Blacksburg.

According to police, a jetta was traveling eastbound on Glade Road just after midnight when the driver lost control. The car veered off the road and then overturned. The driver- who was not wearing a seatbelt- was partially ejected and trapped under the vehicle. The driver was flown by Lifeguard-10 to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The passenger was wearing a seatbelt and received only minor injuries. The passenger was taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital for observation. Police say speed may have been a factor. There is no word yet on their conditions.

Martinsville authorities are looking for a 61-year-old man who walked away from an adult home yesterday. Earnest Thomas Mitchell told workers at the Hairston Home for Adults -- that he was going for a walk, but did not return. He does require medication, and was last seen wearing a long-sleeved white shirt with black stripes and blue pants. Anyone with information on his location is asked to call Martinsville Police.

Thousands of hopefuls converged on Rockbridge County High school yesterday to try and convince casting directors they
were the one ---- *for the role as an extra*.

Virginia Casting has the task of narrowing down the thousands of hopefuls to about five hundred extras. After all the waiting the potential actors had a quick interview with the casting directors,and most were told very little about their shot at being in the movie. Some lucky ones did get a definitive answer and can now look forward to aliens landing in Rockbridge County. Filming is set to begin on the 13th when the extras chosen from the casting call will get their time to shine on the silver screen.

A local woman is facing arson charges following a fire in Martinsville.
The fire broke out around four-thirty yesterday morning at a home on Granville Street. Four people were inside when the fire started.
Police have arrested 39-year-old Sophia Yvette Heckstall, and charged her with setting the blaze.
She is being held without bond.
Police say the investigation is continuing.
