Does the University of Virginia discriminate against white applicants?
That question's being investigated by the U-S Department of Education.
A complaint was filed after the university denied admission to a white male student from New York.
A U-V-A spokeswoman declined to discuss the investigation or the complaint but said the school considers diversity just one of many factors in determining admission.
In 2003, the U-S Supreme Court struck down the university's undergraduate formula because it awarded admission points based on race.
