Police have arrested the man they say walked into the Newbold Corporation carrying a gun Tuesday night.

Police say 39- year- old Israel Yarbrough was arrested without incident in Pittsylvania County.
He was returned to the Franklin County jail late yesterday afternoon.
Investigators have described him as a disgruntled former employee who left the company on Monday.
He is charged with two counts of assault and battery, and two counts of brandishing a firearm.

Prosecutors say Thomas hired a hit man to kill his wife in 2000.
Yesterday, the alleged hit man, 20-year-old Billy Ray Manns testified he shot Thomas because he needed money.

U-S Marshals arrested a fugitive from Danville and charged him with kidnapping his son.
Lemarcus Jermaine Childress was found Tuesday night in Jacksonville, Florida.

Childress and his wife are accused of abducting 2-year-old A'Mario Stevens from his grandmother's house last month.

When the boy disappeared, police sent out an Amber Alert.
Childress called the grandmother one morning and told her A'Mario was on her front porch.
The boy's mother was already in custody.

A local soldier is back in the states after a rough ordeal in Iraq.
21 year old Dwayne Perdue of Franklin County is at a military hospital in Washington state.

Perdue was injured Saturday when insurgents ambushed his armored tank.
Two people died including his best friend.
Three others were injured.
Perdue, who's from Sydnorsville, was shot once in the shoulder.

Yesterday the two likely candidates, Attorney General Jerry Kilgore and Lieutenant Governor Tim Kaine, squared off in Richmond.
The event was moderated by political analyst Larry Sabato who brought up this week's eavesdropping settlement right off the bat.
Top Democrats have criticized Kilgore's handling of the scandal, but the Attorney General maintains it was his office that blew the whistle on the crime.
Meanwhile, Kilgore criticized Kaine for being too liberal and out of touch with Virginia values.
But the two men do agree on some issues, including the need for a four- year university in Southside.
