Two Roanoke police officers shot a drug suspect six times last month.
Today, prosecutors said their actions were justified.
(------------)
[VO-NAT]
[SUPER=03-Roanoke/November 12]

The incident arose out of a drug investigation at the corner of Highland Avenue and Ninth Street on November 12th.
Officers said they were trying to arrest 37 year old Darryl Abner Baker when he ran. Police released a K-9 which bit Baker on the leg.
As he struggled with the dog, Baker pulled a loaded nine-millimeter pistol from his waistband and pointed it at police.
Officers John Hoover and Allen Bower, Junior fired nine shots. A third officer did not fire.
Baker was hit six times and survived.

In a statement today, Roanoke Commonwealth's Attorney Don Caldwell said Baker's actions justified the use of force and he will not seek criminal charges against the officers.
Baker, on the other hand, faces charges for drug offenses and assault on a police officer.
