Relatives of a missing woman and her granddaughter continue to wait in Salem as the search expands in North Carolina. The two were on their way to visit family in Virginia when they disappeared.

58-year old Gail Haddock-Dail, and her 15-year old granddaughter Heather Roberts, never made it to a birthday celebration for Dail's brother -- Grady Hewitt in Salem. The last person to reportedly hear from Dail was her estranged husband, who says she called him from her cell phone around three o'clock Tuesday morning asking for help. Authorities say the call used towers in Lenoir County, North Carolina, and that's where the search for the missing travelers continues.

Hewitt says there are many unanswered questions the family is trying to sort through.

A new business venture in Alleghany County has some residents upset. They say they've been left out of the project -- which could drastically change their community.

MeadWestvaco is looking at building a distribution center in the Niceleytown-area which would consolidate warehousing and distribution. The center would mean a drastic increase in the truck and train traffic in the area. MeadWestvaco has scheduled a meeting with nearby landowners on Monday to talk about the project. Opponents say there are other available industrial sites in the area that would be more suitable.

Central Virginia Community College dedicated its third satellite campus yesterday at the Bedford Center for Business.
The school will begin offering classes in January ... it expects to enroll between two and three hundred students.
'East Coast Fabricators' and 'Rhino Powder Coating Services' have moved into the same building.
Their owner used to do business in Salem, but needed to expand.
The building that houses all three- used to be the temporary Bedford County courthouse.

Governor Mark Warner wants 824-million dollars in new funding to improve transportation in Virginia.

That announcement came yesterday as the governor unveiled his transportation plan. He first hopes to replenish the Transportation Trust Fund that's been looted in recent years to balance the budget. He then wants to pay off completed projects across the Commonwealth including some along Route 460 and Interstate 81.

Warner also wants to help fund some rail- related projects to reduce the stress on Virginia roads.
