Nichelle Warren's husband is being hailed as a hero. The 44-year-old Sergeant is a Virginia National Guardsman who sprang to action after a bombing at his U.S. military base in Mosul. Sergeant First Class Ricky Warren helped the wounded as chaos erupted around him.

When it was all said and done- 22-people died that day. Warren didn't escape unscathed- he suffered hearing loss in his right ear and had some teeth knocked loose. For keeping his cool and doing what had to be done- Warren was recognized with a special coin.
His wife says Ricky and the men in his unit are upbeat and focusing on the job at hand, while looking toward the future.

Police continue to look for an additional suspect in the murder of a Martinsville woman.

Today they released a photo of 25 year old James Benjamin Hairston. He been charged as an accessory before the fact in the murder of Lisa Thomas.

Thomas was killed inside her Martinsville clothing store in September, 2000.
Her husband, Maverick Thomas, and his friend, Malvester Dixon, are charged with capital murder. The Prosecutor revealed at Dixon's preliminary hearing two weeks ago that a warrant had been issued for Hairston. The alleged trigger man in the case says Hairston provided the .22 revolver he used to kill Lisa Thomas.

Nelson County authorities have charged a man with murder in a fatal shooting this morning.
The sheriff's office says the victim was 23-year-old Wayne Wilkerson of Schuyler.
Wilkerson was shot twice early this morning at a house in the Schuyler area.
Deputies arrested a suspect at the scene, 40-year-old Dwayne Scott Wyland, and recovered a handgun.
They believe a domestic dispute led to the shooting.

A Bland County Sheriff's Deputy is recovering after being attacked on the job. Sergeant K. D. DeHart was trying to serve a search warrant on 31 year old Teddy Brent Davis. Investigators say a fight broke out with Davis and his father, 60 year old Teddy Donald Davis. Dehart suffered a broken leg. The father and son were arrested and charged with malicious wounding and attempted intimidation by force, of a police officer.

A car crashed into an animal clinic near Lynchburg this morning.
State police say the driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and slammed through the front door of the building on Waterlick Road.
87-year-old Jewel Moore of Lynchburg wasn't hurt; nor were any animals inside the Seven Hills Clinic.
But Moore did hit a woman before smashing into the glass doors.
Police say HER injuries were minor.
The accident did 20-to-30-thousand dollars damage.

A Virginia Military Institute Cadet- -home for the holidays in Maryland- -has succumbed to injuries from an auto accident. Adrian Cmerek (SMARE-ick) was a Keydet football and lacrosse player, a member of the Class of 2006. The accident happened last Wednesday near his parent's home in Clarksville, Maryland. Cadet Cmerek died yesterday at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
