A V-M-I cadet from Maryland has died following an auto accident near his parents' home. Adrian Cmerek (smare-ick) was injured in a wreck last Wednesday while home for the holidays. He died yesterday at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Cmerek was a keydet football and lacrosse player, a member of the Class of 2006.

A car smashed through the front door of a business in Campbell County this morning.

State police say the driver hit the gas instead of the brake outside of the Seven Hills Animal Hospital on Waterlick Road.
The vehicle hit a pedestrian and then crashed into the building.
The 87-year-old driver, Jewel Guthrie Moore of Lynchburg, was NOT hurt.
The pedestrian suffered minor injuries, according to police.
Damage to the building was about 20 to 30-thousand dollars.

Officials say the gate could open during a crash.

Meanwhile, her estranged husband David Gest filed a ten- million- dollar lawsuit, accusing Minelli of beating him.

A celebration in China took a tragic turn, when fireworks shocked a pair of elephants, who stampeded a crowd of spectators.

The two elephants rushed toward children and parents, who were gathered at a zoo.
One woman was unable to get out of the way, and passed out after an elephant stepped over her.
