Mason was having lunch with his friend David Ruhren (Ruin) when the suicide bomb went off.
Both men were from Virginia- both turned 20 while in Iraq. Both died during the attack.

In Mosul- fellow soldiers gathered this week for a memorial service for the two.
These pictures came from the Army National Guard- Many of the soldiers were still bandaged from the attack.
Commanders and comrades spoke of Mason and Ruhren's courage and commitment- saying a piece of the two will live on in their fellow soldiers.

A robbery suspect is in custody tonight in Roanoke, after a store manager, a candy vendor and customers spoiled his getaway.

Roanoke Police have charged 32- year- old Reginald Eugene Jackson with robbery. He's being held in the Roanoke City Jail without bond.

Police are asking for help finding aVinton woman who has been missing for more than a month.

25-year-old Melinda Denise Bond was last seen November 24th. Bond dropped her baby off at her mother's house, but never made it to work and never returned for the child. Two-days later, Bond's mother went to her home in Vinton and found the door unlocked and several thousands of dollars worth of new furniture and audio-visual equipment.

The skeletal remains found in a burned home in Giles County are those of a missing Virginia Tech biologist.

The Roanoke Medical Examiners office confirmed the remains belonged to 44 year old Sue Daniels.

Giles County investigators believe Niklan Jones killed her, set the house on fire and then killed himself. The medical examiner is still trying to figure out HOW Daniels was killed. Jones' body was found in the woods near Daniel's home a day after the fire destroyed it.

Authorities say alcohol was involved in a deadly crash overnight inVinton- but they're still trying to figure out exactly what happened.

State Police were out at the site re-constructing the crash. Troppers say 43-year-old Mario Rocha of Roanoke had been drinking when he crossed into oncoming traffic on Hardy Road just after one this morning. Rocha hit a car driven by 22-year-old Christopher Rivera. Rocha later died at Roanoke Memorial. Rivera and his passenger, 22-year Stephen Barton are in fair condition.
