Wythe County deputies say they tried to stop a car driven by 29 year old Craig Smith, and his wife 18 year old Shawna Smith, in Wytheville around 9-thirty- Tuesday night, but the pair took off.
The chase ended just outside of town on Lithia Road when the Smiths crashed. The deputy chasing them lost his brakes and wrecked into a guardrail.
