According to the owner there- an undisclosed amount of money was taken sometime between November 21st and 23rd while Bond was on-duty. She now faces felony embezzlement charges. Melinda Bond was reported missing November 24th after she went to work and never returned to pick up her infant daughter.

Marines are now allowed to drop in on the island of Sumatra with relief supplies, as long as they are unarmed, and don't stay long. But plans to set up a base in one province for Marines who would help clear debris and rebuild roads, have been scrapped. The Indonesian government doesn't want foreign soldiers on its soil. Meantime, foreign aid workers and journalists are now required to tell the government before they travel to certain parts of the country. The government says its trying to protect them from rebels who've been fighting the Indonesian military for three decades.

It was established by the British government during the Second World War as part of a secret mission to build reconnaissance bases in Antarctica. The base was abandoned in 1969 but the original station hut has been restored and now operates as a museum. Franklin County officials hope a new trend is rising on their rivers.

Last month, Galen and Ruby Brubaker donated part of their land to build a canoe park. The couple says they were inspired by another family, the Lynches in Rocky Mount, who donated land last Spring, in memory of Vernon Lynch. The well-known doctor was killed in a car accident in 1992.
