Giles County authorities are investigating a fatal fire.

It happened last night around 8:30 at 490 State Line Road near Narrows.
A trailer home caught fire- trapping a woman inside.
Investigators say her body was burned beyond recognition.
They are awaiting autopsy and D-N-A tests before they can identify the victim.
Investigators do not suspect foul play.
They believe the fire was started by a cigarette.

As more national guard and reserve units are deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq, local law enforcement agencies are losing more officers to military service.
In central and western Virginia, that number now tops twenty and is expected to climb.

In memory of the Virginia mother, one of her friends is now working with the American Heart Assocation to save others lives.
