Bad weather caused a number of accidents near Fancy Gap, forcing the road to shut down for nearly ten hours.

Police are investigating a shooting that happened tonight in Southeast Roanoke.

Officers responded to this home on Murray Avenue just after eight o'clock.
They arrived to find a man in his 20's shot at least once in the abdomen.
The victim was conscious when he was being transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Bobby Scruggs died at his home this morning after a long battle with cancer.
He worked on various circuits throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's. And for many years he served as the flagman on the Busch Grand National Series.
During an interview with News 7 in April --he talked about the overwhelming support he received from the racing family. They even helped him pay for an experimental medication.

The Virginia Tech Hokies watched the Rocky movie in their hotel before yesterday's contest at 12th ranked Georgia Tech. Seth Greenberg's troops then played like prize fighters in pulling out the school's first win over a ranked opponent on the road since beating Louisville in 1982.

One man is glad to be alive and back with his family after being lost in caves for weeks.

The man had been missing for 34-days, aftering losing his way in abandoned caves in the High Pyrenees near Toulouse, (tuh-loose) France. Officials say he left his home suffering from depression, and wandered into the cave complex without a flashlight or food. The man says he survived by collecting rainwater and eating clay and pieces of wood. He was found thanks to some teenagers who alerted police when they spotted his car.
