Authorities say a clothes dryer is responsible for a fire at 49- 14 West Main Street in Roanoke County early this morning. A resident heard the smoke detector, and got both of his sons out safely before firefighters arrived. The fire was contained to the laundry room, but the rest of the house sustained heavy smoke and water damage. The Red Cross will meet with the family later this morning to help them find a place to stay.

Ricky Andrew Huffman and Todd Russell Harless were arrested yesterday morning. A-T-F Agents say the two men told essentially the same story when confronted at work.

Huffman picked up Harless Tuesday night around 8:30 and drove to an alley behind 420 Fourteenth Street.
According to a federal affidavit, they put a pipe bomb in the trash can and ran. Harless allegedly bought the parts at Home Depot and the black powder at a gun show at the Civic Center.
The criminal complaint says Harless built the pipe bomb at his mother's house in Salem.
