Now a group of concerned citizens is taking its parent company to court in an effort to close the clinic's doors.

This morning members of the Northwest Concerned Citizens group, along with their attorney, filed a lawsuit in Circuit Court against Virginia Treatment Center, Incorporated. Court papers claim the treatment center is too close to schools and daycares, plus it hasn't obtained a special exception from the city's zoning board to operate a clinic there.

A Martinsville police officer was killed yesterday while serving in Iraq.

23 year old corporal Jonathan W. Bowling was killed in an ambush attack.
The city police department broke the news of his death late yesterday afternoon.
Bowling was a 2000 graduate of Patrick County High School and a 2002 graduate of Patrick Henry Community College.


Martinsville's police chief says everything about Bowling was "impressive."

Corporal Bowling was one of four members of a Lynchburg Marine Reserve unit killed in Iraq yesterday.
One of the others was Sgt. Jesse Strong of Vermont, a student at Liberty University.
The other two were also from Virginia, Corporal Christopher Weaver of Spotsylvania County and Corporal Karl Linn of Chesterfield.

His publicist says Clark will continue to recover at his home, and is thankful for all the cards and well- wishes he received in the hospital.
