Police in Lynchburg are

investigating the death of a man found
on train tracks early Sunday morning.

Authorities found the partial
remains of the *unidentified* man
around one A-M --at a trestle near
Riverside Park.

It appeared he was wearing
dark-colored pants, with black high-top
Converse tennis shoes.

Anyone with any information is urged
to contact Lynchburg Police.

say they have arrested a man suspected
in a fatal shooting Friday night.
Raphael Rashadd Jones was arrested
Saturday night in Richmond.

on 16th Street.

20-year old Desiree Jennings was
killed in the shooting.

Witnesses say they heard five or

six shots before Jennings walked into

Saturday night in Richmond. He is
being held without bond.

institutional care, Delegate Steve
Landes (Land-is) is encouraging, those
who can afford it, to purchase long-
term care insurance.

He says those programs usually
allow recipients to receive care in
their homes.

It would also free up state and
federal money for less wealthy
individuals.

Lawmakers say they realize this
is just a start, but it's an issue that
must be addressed.

school is building a new dorm.

It's located next to the Bast Center.

The ten and half million dollar
residence hall will look more like an
apartment building than a traditional
dorm.

room and then share a living and

Roanoke College hopes to have the
new dorm completed by August and opened
by this fall.

The school is also building a new
entrance to the campus off of Thompson
Memorial Highway.

That one-point-eight MILLION dollar
project should be finished by spring.

enjoy the carnival this weekend.

An indoor coaster, games, and
food filled the Salem Civic Center.

All the rides were geared for
children, but that didn't stop parents

operations at Reagan International
Airport, adding 50-new flights to
cities, including Chicago and Atlanta.

The company also formed new labor
contracts recently with the
International Association of Machinists
-- securing operating cash through

Officials call this a huge turnaround
for the Virginia-based airline, which
filed for bankruptcy a second time in
September.

The committee members say they
were conservative with their education
dollars -- but do call for a two and a
half percent pay raise for teachers.

The SENATE plan calls for more
than 16 million dollars to fund
Governor Warner's proposed "Virginia
Works" economic package.


The senate's transportation plan
includes more than 25 million dollars
for the Rail Partnership fund.

And teachers would see a three
percent raise uner the Senate plan.
