THE PROPOSAL, JUST OFF THE PRESSES,
SEEKS TO CUT THE NATIONAL DEBT IN

HALF BY 2009. WITH A PROJECTED RECORD
DEFICIT OF 427 BILLION DOLLARS

THIS YEAR...THAT'S NO SHORT ORDER AND
IT'S LIKELY TO CAUSE CONTROVERSY

ON CAPITOL HILL FOR MONTHS.

THE 2.5 TRILLION PLAN SEEKS DEEP CUTS
ACROSS GOVERNMENT. AMONG THE BIG

TO THE POOR AND VETERANS WOULD BE

The big story of the day was
Nascar's Tony Stewart and his team,
which lost the lead and the race a year
ago with suspension problems, and
yesterday fell out with less than two
hours left-- thanks to a hole in the
transmission.

The winners completed 710 laps on
the 3 and a half mile circuit for a
total of 2, 527 miles.

The Ponitac Crawford of Jimmie
Johnson, Butch Leitzinger, and Elliott
Forbes Robinson was second.
