Police have now charged 37 year
old Gloria Castanon Cast-a non with
failure to yield the right of way to a
pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Wednesday ran down 25 year old graduate student
Joshua Ryan Ross as he was walking in a
cross walk on Main Street.
She's also charged with felony
hit and run and driving without a
license.

Fuentes-Valdez and charged him with
Obstruction of Justice.
Police say he hid the car after

believe tried to abduct a woman and
solicit others.
Roanoke police believe the
abduction attempt happened on the
afternoon of February Fourth.
A 19 year old woman told them a man
tried to pull her into a car on Fourth
Street Southwest.
Within the last 24 hours police
have learned of two attempts to solicit
young women.

with North Carolina license plate

Health officials in New York are
warning about a new strain of HIV.

They say a man in his forties who
has tested negative for HIV for a
decade developed flu- like symptoms
after having unprotected sex with
multiple partners last fall.
In December he was diagnosed with
HIV.
This month, he was diagnosed with
AIDS.

says he's particularly concerned
because the progression from HIV to
Aids usually takes a decade and can be
controlled by drugs.
But the patient's virus was
resistant to 19 of the 20 medications

That's the idea behind a bill
that's now cleared both houses of the
General Assembly.
The bill prohibits anyone from
selling the flu- vaccine at inflated
prices when the governor has declared a
shortage.
Just this week the state health
commissioner testified before a federal
committee on how Virginia's dealing
with the current shortage.
The commissioner stressed the
need for a more reliable system when it
comes to producing and distributing the
vaccine.

chase.
George allegedly pulled a gun on

The weapon turned out to be a
pellet gun.
George faces numerous charges
included eluding police and attempted

Arthur Miller died Thursday night of
congestive heart failure at his home in
Rexbury, Connecticut surrounded by his
family.
His dramas focused on personal
responsibility and morality.
For decades, the playwright dominated
stages and theaters around the world.
Miller's marriage to film star Marilyn
Monroe gave him a celebrity status he
tried to avoid.
To mark his passing, broadway marquees
dimmed their lights tonight at curtain
time.

a ceremony to make it all official next

were hammered by North Carolina
93-to-67 at Carmichael Auditorium.

:00 start as Carrie Mason hit four out of
four three pointers and Kerri Gardin
banged the boards for 10 rebounds and
14 points.
In fact the Hokies led several
times in the first half. But by
halftime the Tarheels had kicked the
tempo up a notch or two to take a
45-to-35 lead at the break.
And the second half was all UNC.
The
*CG final Virginia Tech Heels force a total of 24 turnovers
67 and outrebound the Hokies by 18 boards
North Carolina to take the 93-to-67 win.
