Lynchburg soldier has been killed in
Iraq.
He is indentified as 26 year old Staff
Sergeant Kristopher L. Shepherd.
The Pentagon says he died Friday in
Baghdad when an *improvised* explosive
device detonated during clearing
operations.
Sheperd's family says he had already
completed a tour of duty in
Afghanistan.
Shepherd leaves behind a wife and two
children.

ENG#=None shooting that sent one man to the
hospital.
Officials say the 21-year-old man was
shot in the head in the parking lot of
North Hills Apartments early yesterday
morning.
He was taken into surgery at Danville
Regional Medical Center where at last
report, he was listed in critical
condition.
Officials are not releasing the
victim's name at this time.

ENG#=1 victims of Saturday's apartment fire in
Roanoke can return to their homes.

Saturday Fire officials say a four-year-old
child started the fire, damaging
12-units, and forcing about three dozen
people out of their homes.
Some of the residents have found
shelter at vacant apartments within the
complex, while others are getting
assistance from the Red Cross.
Fire inspectors are expected to visit
the property today.

should help the force move into the
21st-century.
The department recently received
a 15-thousand dollar grant from the
department of criminal justice -which
will be used for an automated
fingerprinting system.
Right now, *town officers* use
an "old fashioned" roller system -- and
have to take prisoners to Roanoke just
to enter them in the statewide
database.

him as 26 year old Staff Sergeant
Kristopher L. Shepherd.
The Pentagon says he died Friday in

Sheperd's family says he had already
completed a tour of duty in
Afghanistan.
Shepherd leaves behind a wife and two

morning.
Officials say the 21-year-old man was
shot in the head in the parking lot of
North Hills Apartments.
He was taken into surgery at Danville

Officials are not releasing the
victim's name at this time.

In severe cases, like Lawson's, it can
be fatal without treatment, because the

Lynchburg soldier has been killed in
Iraq.
He is indentified as 26 year old Staff
Sergeant Kristopher L. Shepherd.
The Pentagon says he died Friday in
Baghdad when an *improvised* explosive
device detonated during clearing
operations.
Sheperd's family says he had already
completed a tour of duty in
Afghanistan.
Shepherd leaves behind a wife and two
children.

ENG#=None shooting that sent one man to the
hospital.
Officials say the 21-year-old man was
shot in the head in the parking lot of
North Hills Apartments early yesterday
morning.
He was taken into surgery at Danville
Regional Medical Center where at last
report, he was listed in critical
condition.
Officials are not releasing the
victim's name at this time.

Crowder was taken to Roanoke Memorial
after he ran off the road and crashed

narrowly missed a neighbor's house
before heavily damaging this one.

The Pentagon says he died Friday in
Baghdad when an *improvised* explosive
device detonated during clearing
operations.

Danville Police say a 21-year-old man
was shot in the head in the parking lot
of North Hills Apartments early
yesterday morning.
He was taken into surgery at Danville
Regional Medical Center where at last
report, he was listed in critical
condition.
Officials have not released the
victim's name.

in Pulaski County voted last night on
whether to accept or reject a new
contract.
Some members of the Local 20-69
said it was nice to see a two percent
raise incorporated into the new
contract, however some felt the health
insurance and pension plans didn't hit
the mark.
Union officials say they'll issue
a press release with the final results
after they notify the membership.
