EDUCATION ANIMATION EVENT disturbing information.

VO-NAT VO-NAT

*CG locator Roanoke Co.

The principal sent home a letter
alerting parents to a report that a
stranger had tried to pick up a
kindergarten student while she waited
for the school bus in the North Lakes
area.

The letter cited specifics: how
the man attempted to lure the little

girl into his truck with a stuffed
animal.

Late yesterday county police
said, while there was a brown truck in
the area, they determined no one ever
approached the child.

Wednesday Night Thompson was one of two finalists who
met the public during a forum Wednesday

School Board members say it was a
difficult decision between two
well-qualified candidates, but they
believe Thompson is the best choice for
Roanoke at this time.

A contract must still be
negotiatied with Thompson, but the
school board's confident that won't be
a problem.

Thompson served as a teacher, assistant
principal and principal before becoming
an associate superintendent.

He now supervises 18 schools with
approximately 17- thousand students.
