condition after being severely burned
yesterday in a Blacksburg fire.

Yesterday Friends say Bowyer is being
treated for severe damage to his lungs.
His 12-year-old granddaughter
Katie has significant burns.
Both are being treated at the
U-V-A medical center burn unit.
They were hurt in an early
morning house fire Friday on Glade
Road.
Firefighters say Bowyer got out
of the house safely but then went back
inside to save his granddaughter.
Investigators believe the fire
started in the dining room at the rear
of the house.

Blacksburg High heard about the fire
they started a support fund.
Within an hour more than a
thousand dollars had been raised and
clothes for the family had been bought.

the bridge it was crossing collapsed.

delivery on Myrtle Lane and the truck
was returning to Bradshaw Road when the
bridge gave way.
A small amount of diesel fuel
spilled into the creek, but the driver
was not injured, and no propane was
released.
The company's trucks have used the
bridge in the past, and a company
official says there was no reason to
suspect it was unsafe.

By the end, the incident turned into
a police chase, fight and search for a
suspect.

Brents last night.
The man was stopped after
authorities briefly chased a car
matching one stolen in a robbery and
aggravated assault earlier in the
evening in Denver.

A woman, police believe was the
victim of last night's assault, was
also taken into custody.
Brents is wanted for allegedly
raping two women on the same day
earlier this month.
A woman and two of her
grandchildren were sexually assaulted

to Glenwood Springs to confirm whether
the man is Brents.

the first major professional sports
league in North America to cancel a
season.
Now it appears the two sides are
heading back to the bargaining table.
One report says that deal has been
reached *in principle* - that requires
a 45 million dollar salary cap per
team.

Bettman canceled the season saying it
was too late to play any semblance of a

Roads are washed out in many parts

burned in a Blacksburg fire.

treated for severe damage to his lungs.
His 12 year old granddaughter
Katie has significant burns.
Both are being treated at the
U-V-A medical center burn unit.
They were hurt in an early

Firefighters say Bowyer got out
of the house safely but then went back
inside to save his granddaughter.
Investigators believe the fire
started in the dining room at the rear
of the house.

apprehended Brent J. Brents last night
in Glenwood Springs, 150 miles west of
Denver.
The man was stopped after
authorities briefly chased a car
matching one stolen in a robbery and
aggravated assault in Denver, earlier
in the evening.

victim of last night's assault, was
also taken into custody.
Brents is wanted for allegedly
raping two women on the same day

to Glenwood Springs to confirm whether

Roads are washed out in many parts
of Los Angeles and Ventura counties,

OK, I'm going to pass the hat and take
up a collection to get Keanu Reeves
some acting lessons. Come on, pony up
some cash so we can save the world from
bad acting. Act now, operators are
standing by.
Keanu Reeves is Constantine a psychic,
exorcist, chain-smoking, kind of
"dude". Rachel Weisz is L.A. Detective
Angela Dodson. Angela's sister commits
suicide by diving off the top of a
hospital and Angela has to find out
why. Constantine has been extra busy
sending demons back to hell and
wondering why they are trying to "cross
over". Hmmm, they've never done that
before! Constantine and Angela team up
to figure out why all the bad ole'
demons are showing up everywhere
causing problems. Blah, blah, blah.
About fifteen minutes into this movie I
kind of liked it (I was contemplating a
rating of somewhere around a 7). Half
way through it had worked its way down
to a 5. By the time the credits rolled
I was teetering between a 3 and a 4. If
one thing hurt this movie more than
anything it was Keanu Reeves lack of
acting. I've liked him in other movies,
but he was absolutely rotten here. It
was almost like he was waiting for the
director to tell him what to say next
or which way to turn and swagger away.
Too bad he didn't. The other problems
are the ones that so often plague
movies like this. The good stuff just
gets lost in a mess of crap. There are
some good moments here and some very
decent special effects, but by the time
you wade through all of the other crap
(bad acting included) you just don't
care any more.
If you go to see it anyway, Tilda
Swinton as Gabriel and Djimon Hounsou
as Midnite are fun to watch.
