A lot of things have changed at Camp

WALTON MITCHELL, CAMP MITCHELL: OUR
COUNTY WE'RE LIMITED FINANCIALLY AND WE
HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPETING FOR A
SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY AND SO WE'RE
TRYING TO PROVIDE A SERVICE TO YOUNG
PEOPLE AND ADULTS HERE.

Now the Camp Mitchell Foundation is
planning a resurrection. Officials
want to make it a centerpiece for
tourism and the community. They'll do
that by adding a lodge, additional
cabins, and a facility which would
house a gym and a new olympic-size
pool.

SUSAN BAHORICH, REPORTING: IN ADDITION
TO GIVING CAMP MITCHELL A NEW LOOK-
OFFICIALS HOPE IT WILL HELP CRAIG
COUNTY'S ECONOMY. THEY SAY THAT WILL
HAPPEN WITH FOOD, SALES AND LODGING
TAXES.

LISA CAMPBELL, CRAIG CO. BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS: THEY'RE HOPING TO BUILD
LODGES OR CABINS AND WE HAVE RECENTLY
IMPLEMENTED A LODGING TAX IN CRAIG,
WHICH WOULD GO INTO AND CREATE MORE
TOURISM DOLLARS.

But to make money- the foundation will
have to spend money.

The project has a price tag of nearly
four-million dollars which will be
funded by the federal and state
governments, along with grants and
donations from the community.

Construction is expected to begin
within the year and be completed within
4 to 5 years.>>

prepared to send its passenger train
along the repaired coastal tracks in a
symbolic journey.

Engine 59 and the eight coaches
of "the Queen of the Sea" have become
an icon of the December 26th tragedy
that killed nearly 31-thousand people
on the island.

The maiden trip was 75-miles.

Regular services won't resume on
the line just yet, as the signalling
