car into a Roanoke County home last
week is dead.
A spokesman for Roanoke
Memorial Hospital confirms that Joshua
Glenn Crowder died, but would not
elaborate.

February 13 In the early morning hours of
February 13th, Crowder's car smashed
into a home on Castle Rock Road in
southwest Roanoke County.
Police later said that Crowder
was not wearing a seat belt and that

sheriff's deputy is facing federal drug
distribution charges.
Sheriff Wilson Staples says
34-year-old Eric S. Lee of Appomattox
was arrested last week after an
investigation by local, state and
federal authorities.
Lee's charged with possession with
intent to distribute more than 500
grams of cocaine hydrochloride.
He's in federal custody awaiting a
bond hearing.

brought on by a viral infection.

building a new regional jail near Dixie
Caverns.
But critics of the plan are
raising new questions, now that the
City of Roanoke is trying to join in on
the project.

Roanoke Mayor Nelson Harris said the
city is interested in exploring the
possibility of participating in the
regional jail project.
Harris also said the city would
be open to having downtown Roanoke

recommendations.

Supervisors Chairman Mike Altizer
says he welcomes the city's interest,
but says it shouldn't stop the county
from submitting the current proposal to
the state.
A substantial delay would raise
the cost of construction, and Altizer
argues the plan can be changed if
