ENG#=2 caused a fatal accident in Campbell
County tonight.

Just after 6, authorities say a red
truck was driving recklessly, headed
south on Route 501 near Gladys.
Another southbound car swerved to
avoid the truck, over-corrected and
swung into the northbound lane, hitting
another car head-on.
The driver of the northbound car
died at the scene ... the other driver
was flown to Lynchburg General Hospital
with what police say were severe
injuries.
Names of the victims have yet to
be released.
The red pickup did not stop ...
and police ask anyone with information
about the accident to call

Sheriff's deputies have nabbed a
diplomat.

41 year old Salem Al Mazrooei was
taken into custody for allegedly trying
to meet up with what he thought was a
13 year old girl.
But investigators were waiting for
him at the pre-arranged location in the
New London Forest area.
He could have faced five criminal
charges but has diplomatic immunity
because he works for the embassy of the
United Arab Emirates.

assault against two-teenaged girls last
summer.

Melissa Blankenship pled guilty
this morning to one count of carnal
knowledge of a minor and two-counts of
felony child neglect.
Blankenship was one of three
people charged in the August case.

August 2004 14-year-olds with the intent of going
four-wheeling, but instead took them
back to her apartment where two-men
were waiting for them.
Blankenship's boyfriend, Ryan
Jackson Craft will be tried in April.
The other man, Ryan Clay Gilmer
pled guilty to carnal knowledge and
abduction.
He'll be sentenced in March.

been justified.

The shooting was caught on video
after the Marine said he thought he saw
one of the insurgents, who was wrapped
in a blanket, move.
He then fired.
A Navy investigation determined
the insurgent *may* have been going for
a weapon.
At the very least, experts

conviction.
It's now up to Marine commanders

from a UVa assistant coach. Like
Wallace, Moats receives text messages

This week, Tennessee coach Pat
Summitt, who has led the Vols to six
national titles since 1974, spent an
evening at Northside watching Moats in
the Blue Ridge district tournament.

Summitt has not offered Moats yet.
The junior will join a west Virginia
based AAU team after the season coached
by the father of a Tennessee player.
Wallace, who suffered a season ending
knee injury last week, plays ninth
months a year.

to New York and has watched the high
school game evolve in her 30 plus years

and the dismay of others, the
Department of Transportation in
Massachusetts is taking steps to deter
traffic jams caused by curious drivers
trying to catch a glimpse of accidents
scenes.
The agency's using large screens
of piping and vinyl to cover those
scenes up and encourage drivers to keep
moving.
