near Gladys two nights ago ... and they
say the public has been extremely
helpful in providing information.

Wednesday Night 43-year-old Darryl Younger of
Naruna died when his car collided
head-on with a Toyota driven by
34-year-old David Mason of Brookneal.

Mason was flown to Lynchburg
General Hospital where he's still in
serious condition.

Witnesses told police a red
pickup truck had been driving
recklessly on Route 501 and cut Mason's
car off as it passed him, causing the
fatal crash.

The truck never stopped but police
now believe it wrecked a short while

later ... they've charged the woman
driving it with D-U-I, driving on a
suspended license and reckless driving.

A forensics team will examine the
truck to see whether it can prove it
collided with Mason's Toyota.

The woman driving that truck is
now being held without bond ... it's
possible a grand jury next month could
indict her on charges related to the
fatal crash.

triggered a car accident last October
killing two teenage girls.

morning police say 18 year-old Shannon
Cochran and the three passengers riding
with her were cut off by a car speeding
down route 220.

Cochran swerved and flipped her
car.

While the passengers exited the
wreck two more vehicles struck and
killed two of Cochran's passengers.

Police are looking for the
vehicle that triggered the accident.

Anyone with information is asked
to call the Roanoke City Police.

indicted along with a man from Madison
Heights in an allegedly fraudulent
investment scheme

Attorney Charles Gilman Lowry is
accused of taking one-point-three
million dollars from four different
families.

According to the federal
indictment Lowry and Charles Monroe
Grooms promised a high rate of return
on the money, but insisted the funds
had to remain in Lowry's attorney trust
account.

The U-S Attorney's office says
Grooms and Lowry invested the money in
a bond offering in Minnesota and lost


it all.
