FSN The ACC women's regular season
:00 ended tonight and even if you hate
hoops, you have to admire State coach
Kay Yow who has beaten the flu, a
recurrence of breast cancer and the
prognosticators with the help of former
Fleming star Kadijah Wittington to get
the Pack over 20 wins this year.
Tonight Yow, Wittington and the
rest of the team whipped Clemson 69 to
45.
If the Hokies can win two games
in the tourney - they could face the
pack in the semi-finals. Now the
scores.

:00 While Bellairs will no longer
coach basketball for VMI, the
winningest coach in school history has
been asked to stay on and work in the
promotions and marketing areas within
the athletic department.
Bellairs led the VMI hoopsters
for 11 seasons and had 116 wins and 191
losses, but the Keydets haven't had a
winning season since the 1997-98
campaign.
In March of 1996, he and then
head football coach Bill Stewart inked
longterm contracts with the school, and
then in February of 1998, Bellairs was
given a new 10 years contract
extension. He is still under contract
through 2011.
This season the Keydets were just
9 and 18 overall and only 3 and 13 in
the Big South - plus they failed to
qualify for the conference's postseason
tournament.
Athletic director Donny White
said while it was a tough decision, it
was simply time for new leadership and
a new direction.
A search for his successor is
underway.
