her family were murdered, in a case
that still appears to have
investigators stumped.

August 2002 It was August of 2002 when
investigators were called to the
Shorts' Oak Level home in Henry County.
They found the body of Michael and
Mary Short dead in the home, but there
was no sign of Jennifer.

September 2002 That changed the next month, when human
remains were discovered across the
state line in Rockingham County, North
Carolina.
Lab tests later determined those
remains were those of Jennifer Short.
State, local and federal investigators
have spent countless hours and followed
many leads trying to solve the murders.
But up to this point, the murders of
Michael, Mary, and Jennifer Short
remain unsolved.

Police say a church official at
Bethel Baptist found the building full
of smoke about 7:30.
Firefighters traced the fire to a
kitchen stove and quickly put it out.
Authorities say the fire appears
to be suspicious.
No one was hurt.

announcement from the Avalanche front
office Wednesday night.
The team revelaed that in 2006 -
Salem Memorial Stadium will play host
to the annual all-star game between the
Carolina and California leagues on June
27th of 2006.
