multi-million dollar cigarette
smuggling ring.

Nine-men and one woman are behind
bars this evening after the Sheriff's
Office says they stole payroll checks
from a local business and tried to cash
them.
Just after noon today,
authorities responded to
two-simultaneous calls from the Bank of
Botetourt in Daleville and Buchanan.
One man escaped authorities and
led them on a manhunt for several
hours.
He was eventually apprehended.
Authorities say similar events
and circumstances have been reported in
Roanoke County and Raleigh County, West
Virginia.

Two elderly Pulaski County
residents escaped their burning home
this morning.
It happened around 10 in the Bell
Spring area on Ferrell Road.
88 year old Grover Gravely and
his 90 year old wife Ocie OH-cee got
out of the home just before it burst
into flames.
Investigators believe the fire
started in the living room and may have
involved a kerosene heater.
The home was a total loss.

EDUCATION ANIMATION this summer, but his relationship with
the system will begin tomorrow as he
joins school board members to sign his
contract.
In his first formal interview
since his selection, Thompson recently
sat down with Joe Dashiell in Prince
William County, and that's tonight's

Thompson says he hopes Roanoke will see
him as someone who is willing to
listen, focused and purposeful.

If the people he's worked with in
Prince William have a complaint, it's
that he is leaving a position he's held
less than a year.
But they say Thompson is an able
administrator and a good fit for the
Roanoke City schools.

sites, but it's all about the Lady
Flames.
This afternoon the league handed
out its postseason honors to prove it
as Liberty's Katie Feenstra was named
player of the year an her teammate
Kristal Tharp was named the Big South
scholar athlete of the year.

freshman of the year.
The Northside product started 16
