The test results for the Cobalt and the

cars can be made to protect their
occupants.

WITHOUT SIDE-IMPACT AIRBAGS, THE TWO

RECEIVED
A POOR RATING IN THE SIMULATION THAT
BOTH MANUFACTURERS AND THE INSTITUTE
CHARACTERIZE AS SEVERE.

I think this test is a message to
manufacturers. They are selling a lot
of
small cars to people out there and
those people aren't adequately
protected in
the kinds of impacts that are
increasingly frequent.

MANUFACTURERS SAY SAFETY IS THEIR TOP

time to vote on over the weekend.
We asked - which of the teams
still alive heading into the
quarterfinals had the best chance to
win a state title in hoops?
GO TO APRISA OF POLL (GO TO APRISA OF POLL)
The results are in and by a
single percentage point - the Lord
Botetourt girls are given the best
chance to win a championship later this
week in Richmond.
The Martinsville Bulldogs
finished second in the poll with 20
percent, while the Radford girls were
third and the Heritage boys and Magna
Vista girls finished tied for fourth.
Of those four - it would appear
that Martinsiville has the biggest
challenge. The Bulldogs have to play
defending champ Robert E. Lee in the
semi-finals. Lee has won 53 straight.
And if the Bulldogs win that one
- they likely would face unbeaten
Heritage in the title game.
(MIKE ON CAMERA)
The entire state tournament is in
Richmond at the VCU Siegel Center this
Thursday. Friday and Saturday.
News 7 Sports will have a front
row seat for your as Hometown Hoops
Weekly hits the road through Saturday
night's finals.
Coming up at the top of the hour
- Steve Mason checks in from
Charlottesville where Pete Gillen met
the media today.
We'll let you know if he also
faced the music.
By the way - Gillen is the
subject of our new sports poll at
WDBJ-7 dot com.
You're invited to vote - and
we'll have the results later in the
week.
Shannon will be back in just a
moment. Have a safe night everybody.
