2004 Girl's 2A State Tournament <
STILL GUNNING FOR A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
CHATHAM, LORD BOTETOURT, MARTINSVILLE,
RADFORD, HERITAGE AND MAGNA VISTA ARE
TWO WINS AWAY FORM A STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP. WE TRAVELED TO RIDGEWAY
THIS WEEK TO VISIT WITH THE WARRIORS,
THE ONLY TEAM OF THE SIX THAT IS
DEFENDING A STATE TITLE.
But whatever you do, do not coach
Vicky Hayes Scott that. Her Warriors
have two starters back from last years
title team.
VICKY HAYES SCOTT/MAGNA VISTA GIRL'S
HEAD COACH:
The Warriors second straight trip to
the state final four is impressive, in
part, because the team welcomed five
new players, one a starter, from
Laurel Park in a consolidation move.
JASETTA PERKINS/PLAYED FOR LAUREL PARK
LAST SEASON:
Hayes Scott is in only her second
season as the warriors head coach and
could be two for two in state
championship games, and she is very
defensive about her teams success
formula.
HAYES SCOTT
The state tournament hits the hard
wood Thursday at the Siegel Center with
the Radford girls taking on James
Monroe at three. Chatham and Twin
Springs battle at 8:30. Friday, the
Lord Botetourt Lady Cavs start things
off with Charlottesville followed by
Heritage and Greensville Co.. Magna
Vista and Spotswood begin the night
session and the Martinsville and
Robert E. Lee boys battle in the night
cap. Steve Mason Hometown Hoops Weekly.

Barbara Lennen of Elwood, Indiana
says she carried a 20 million dollar
winning lottery ticket in her purse for
two days before she thought to check
it.
The 28-year-old mother of four
says she didn't check the ticket until
her father-in-law mentioned last night
that the convenience store that sold it
to her had sold the jackpot winner.
Lennen says her first wishes are for
a new minivan and a home in
the country.
