failed, local activists asked city
council once again to give the Fifth
Street corridor an honorary designation
as Martin Luther King Boulevard.

ENG#=3 threat at one Roanoke High School.

yesterday morning at William Fleming

High School.

Two bomb-sniffing dogs searched the
building, but found nothing.

Officials originally had students
waiting outside during the search, but
because of the cold weather, sent them

Revlon's latest profit report is
looking pretty. The cosmetic's giant
posted its first quarterly profit in
six years. The stock was up about 8
percent on the news.

rebate..IT'S GOOD toward vehicles that
have been unsold for more than 120

Sony is trying to take a bite out of

afternoon, including first degree
murder.

prison.

A capitol murder charge was

Photographer Bob Shell has hired Gil
Davis to be his attorney.

Davis is best known for
representing Paula Jones in her sexual

He's also running for Lieutenant

Shell is charged with felony
homicide, four counts of defiling a

corpse and several drug charges in
connection with the death of his
girlfriend and model.

Police say he gave 19 year old
Marion Franklin a lethal dose of

today trying to find out what caused a
large steam eruption yesterday evening.

The first small explosion was
recorded at 5:25 PM.

Scientists believe the plume went
36-thousand feet into the air.

The plume entered airspace
typically used by commercial airplanes.

This prompted warnings to be sent to

dollars.

That's according to the
Commonwealth's Attorney's office.

The 10-suspects apprehended
Monday went before a judge yesterday
afternoon.

They face various charges. More

could be coming by the end of the week.

According to authorities the
group worked for a heavy equipment
company in Botetourt County, broke into
their employer's office one evening,
stole blank payroll checks and then
cashed them.

Deputies were able to alert banks
in the area after the first checks were
cashed Friday.

The ten are held without bond.

Last night, city council agreed to add
King's name to a street that runs
through one of its most historic black
neighborhoods.

Fifth Street from the riverfront to the
Fifth Street bridge get the honorary
designation ... but at the suggestion
of other supporters, council decided to
extend it and include Memorial Avenue
as well.

Two bomb-sniffing dogs searched the
building, but found nothing.

Officials originally had students
waiting outside during the search, but
