in the Roanoke Valley will soon get
more help.

V-Dot is restoring its Safety
Service Patrol.

The program was cut in half the
past two years due to state budget
shortfalls.

It's designed to help get broken
down vehicles and their drivers off the
road as soon as possible, cutting down
on traffic jams.

Once additional staff is hired,
eight people will patrol Interstates 81

and 581, along with Route 220.

They'll be out during peak travel
times Thursday through Monday.

for a fatal drug robbery has turned
himself in.

21 year old Ronal Ron-nell Avery
Parris was indicted by a grand jury
this week on nine charges including
accessory to first degree murder.

driver in last May's robbery and murder
in this apartment building on Downey

Prosecutors say Parris hid the
murder weapon and, on several

Virginia Living Histories is
negotiating to take over the park's
management and development.

The board that currently oversees
Explore Park says it could be three to
six months before a contract is
officially ironed out.

Board chairman Fred Anderson says
there will be time for public input
before any decision is made.

I f approved, Virginia Living
Histories would do a 100-thousand
dollar feasibility study in hopes of
bringing a hotel, additional
restaurants, retail shops, and an
amphitheater to the park.

Jarding, have signed a book deal with
Simon and Schuster.

Saunders wrote the lyrics to Mark
Warner's bluegrass campaign song, and
he and Jarding are known as the

Saunders came up with the title,
"Foxes in the Henhouse."

The book and a companion CD are
due out in the spring of 2006.
