GRAPHIC=Victory Stadium Roanoke City school officials
ENG#=1 have decided there will be no spring

sports played at Victory Stadium
because of safety concerns.

All soccer and lacrosse games
will be played at River's Edge Sports
Complex.

The school system is already
making contingency plans for Fall.

That may mean playing all
football games on the road or another
venue in the Roanoke Valley.

Other groups are waiting to hear
from the city before they make any
decisions to move events out of the

Organizers say they're waiting
for final word from city officials,

A non profit corporation called
Virginia Living Histories is
negotiating to take over the park's
management and development.

The board that currently oversees
Explore Park says it could be three to
six months before a contract is
officially ironed out.

Board chairman Fred Anderson says
there will be time for public input
before any decision is made.

If approved, Virginia Living
Histories would do a 100-thousand
dollar feasibility study in hopes of
bringing a hotel, additional
restaurants, retail shops, and an
amphitheater to the park.
