GRAPHIC=News 7 at Noon Good afternoon. Welcome to this
ENG=1 abbreviated edition of News 7 at Noon.

I'm Denise Allen Membreno sitting in

for Kimberly McBroom.

New at Noon...V-M-I officials are
looking into more controversial photos
of cadets.

VO-NAT VO-NAT

This time, the pictures show what
appears to be a hazing incident.

The photos are on the same
website as the infamous Halloween
costume displays that led to the
discipline of several upperclassmen.

A VMI spokesman says these new
pictures show inappropriate behavior,
but NOT a real case of hazing.

GRAPHIC=None Baseball must confront the role it
ENG#=2 has played in the use of steroids in

the sport. That's the word from
Congressman Tom Davis, the chairman of
the house committee investigating the
issue.

Davis says baseball's new drug
testing policy will not solve the

problem.

The panel will hear from parents
whose children committed suicide after
steroid use before it turns its
attention to current and former major
leaguers.

A group of sluggers, including Jose
Canseco, Mark McGwire and

Sammy Sosa, will be quizzed about
steroid use in baseball.

Jose Canseco has already indicated
he'll take the Fifth Amendment on

some questions so as not to incriminate
himself.

In opening statements, two other
players, Rafael Palmeiro and

Frank Thomas, vigorously deny using

steroids.

The Citrus County sheriff's office
says deputies in Georgia arrested John
Couey today. A spokeswoman says
deputies arrested the 46-year-old sex
offender because he didn't notify
Florida that he was leaving the state.

Sex offenders are required to do so.

Nine-year-old Jessica Lunsford
vanished February 23rd from her
family's house.

Officials say Couey sometimes stayed
with a relative who lives about 150
yards from Lunsford's home.

Florida investigators are headed to
Georgia to talk with Couey.

ENG= this Saint Patrick's Day will be out of

luck.

State police and other local and state
law enforcement agencies will increase
their presence across the state for the
holiday.

That means they'll have more D-U-I
checkpoints and more officers on
patrol.

According to the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration...a
little more than 30 percent of all
traffic fatalities that happened on our
nations highways around Saint Patrick's
Day were caused by drivers with blood
alcohol content levels higher than
point eight percent and above.
