OQ=in the news < (END SOT) and improved fake lottery schemes.

People in the viewing area are
receiving letters like this copy,

provided by the better business bureau,
notifying them that they've won a
lottery. Common aspects of this scam
are pressure tactics in the letter
telling the receipient

"This claim must be made immediately"
or

Claim your prize as soon as
possible".... The letter also asks you
to wire a portion of your winnings to
their company for one reason or another

like insurance, taxes or as a shipping
and handling charge.

While common sense may tell you that
you didn't enter a lottery-

a very real looking check included with
the letter may have you believeing
otherwise. The letter tells you its a
portion of your winnings that you can
use to wire the fees mentioned above.
The problem is- you deposit the check-
wire the money and then the check comes
back the next day as fake. You're out
the amount of the wire and the crooks
have the cash. To add insult to injury
you'll probably get a bounced check fee
from your bank.

Remember- legitimate sweepstakes don't
require you to pay a fee of any kind to
get your prize and if you didn't enter-
you probably didn't win.

The Playstation Portable, or
P-S-P, was unveiled today.

The P-S-P is essentially a
hand-held version of Sony's Playstation
2 console, with a built-in screen.

It can also be used as a portable
music and video player.

The gotta-have-it gadget sells
for about 250-dollars.

Analysts say demand is high
enough that more than a million of the
devices could be sold in its first few
days on the shelf.
