:00 Earlier this week, several truck
teams took turns at the half mile paper
clip for a test session, trying to gain
even the slightest edge in what has
become the most competitive of Nascar's
top three touring series.

Information: CG :2-line\Kate Lushpenko\MarieBelle Fine Treats & Chocolate (SOT:

KATE ) "WHAT IS THE PROPER WAY TO EAT CHOCOLATE? (NARR) if your answer is rip off the wrapper, gulp it down and lick your fingers you don't know beans about
real chocolate. CG :2-line\Pierrick Chouard \Founder, echocolates.com (SOT:
CHOUARD 010658) "THERE'S 1500 AROMA MOLECULES IN CHOCOLATE." (SOT: KATE )

"THERE ARE OVER 25 THOUSAND DIFFERENT HYBRIDS." (NARR) the more you know the more you're likely to join the newest trend - the demand for single-origin chocolate. just like wine connoisseurs favor estate bottling or coffee lovers distinguish between hawaiian kona and jamaican blue mountain, chocolate lovers want to know the pedigree of their cacao beans. and they're learning at
chocolate tastings. (SOT: KATE ) "WE WILL PAIR SOME OF OUR GANACHES WITH THE

TEA." (NARR) in this case something called a caipirinha ganache with guava tea. transcendent for some tasters. (TONY GRIMACE) but even a most ardent aficionado will never countenance white chocolate. CG :2-line\Maribel Lieberman \CEO,
MarieBelle Fine Treats & Chocolate (SOT: MARIEBELLE 000941) "YOU DEVELOP THE

PALETTE FOR THE CHOCOLATE." (NARR) but beware if you do. smoky, spicy, flowery, toasty chocolate from madagascar or mexico or ghana can cost as much as 70-dollars a pound. and the number of people willing to pay it is growing.
(GRAPH ) heirloom chocolate now rings up more than 10-percent of sales in this

country... the only segment of the 14-and-a-half billion dollar chocolate
market that IS growing. (SOT: WOMAN ) "A HUGE RANGE OF FLAVORS; I NEVER KNEW SO
MANY FLAVORS EXISTED." (SOT: WOMAN ) "YOU SAVOR IT TOO, YOU REALLY APPRECIATE

IT." (MAN) "PROBABLY BECAUSE IT'S SO EXPENSIVE YOU HAVE TO SAVOR IT." (NARR) and while you savor the elegance of an exquisite truffle or two you might want
to reflect on the role chocolate has played in western history. (SOT: KATE )

"MONTEZUMA WAS KNOWN TO DRINK CHOCOLATE BEFORE HE VENTURED INTO HIS HAREM."
(NARR) he thought it gave him strength and power. must have forgotten to drink
any before cortez showed up. (SOT: KATE ) "THE MARQUIS DE SADE DEMANDED HE GET

DARK CHOCOLATE EVERY DAY IN PRISON." (NARR) the less said about that the
better. (SOT: CHOUARD ) "WE ARE ALL NUTTY HERE. THAT'S WHAT WE ARE. WE ARE

BECOMING NUTTY ON A NUT. COCOABEAN." (NARR) or as hamlet might have said to horatio if either had a sweet tooth... there are more things about chocolate than are dreamt of in your philosophy. tg cbs news ny
