said to be failing after he suffered

today.

This Morning Michael David Perdue of Narrows
collided with the train at the Lurich
Road Crossing in Narrows shortly after
three thirty.

The train hit the driver's side
door and pushed the vehicle down the
tracks.


The truck came to rest between
Lurich and Robertson Mountain Roads.

Perdue was airlifted to Roanoke
Memorial and is listed in good
condition.

It appears the signals at the
crossing *were* working at the time.

The FDA warned there was a potential
cancer risk from the use of Elidel and
Protopic.

allergist who often prescribes the
medications.

MARKET. AND RIGHT NOW THEY HAVE A LONG
TERM USE STUDY INVOLVING 4-THOUSAND
CHILDREN. THE DATA IS NOT OUT YET BUT
SO FAR THERE HAS BEEN ZERO EVIDENCE OF
INCREASED RISK FOR CANCERS

But according to the FDA animal
studies on Elidel and Protopic showed
that some animals developed cancer

after exposure to these drugs --taken
both orally or applied to the skin.
However, the doses given her much
higher than amounts usually used by
patients.

Dr. Thomas Fame says he still feels
these drugs are relatively safe.

ARE POORLY ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN. THAT
MAKES THEM VERY SAFE. SO VERY LITTLE OF

BLOOD STREAM

The FDA recommends that the drugs not
be used in children under two. And that
they should not be taken by people with
weakened immune system. The FDA warns
that they should only be used for short
periods of time --not continuously and
patients should use the smallest
amounts possible --because in animals
increasing the dose resulted in higher
rates of cancer.
