The collision happened at Lurich
Road Crossing in Narrows shortly after
three thirty.

Our photographer on the scene
e-mailed us these pictures.

The train reportedly hit the
driver's side door.

The truck came to rest between
Lurich and Robertson Mountain Roads.

Police say the driver had to be
airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

It appears that the signals at
the crossing were working at the time
of the accident.

We'll have more on this story as
it becomes available.
