second is in ``very grave'' condition
and has been visited today by the
archbishop who would run the church
between popes. John Paul suffered heart
failure yesterday.

Despite his condition, Vatican
officials describe him as fully
conscious. He even celebrated mass
this morning and has been meeting with
his top aids. Officials say he asked
one of them to read him the biblical
account of Christ's crucifixion and
burial.

ENG#=1 condition today after his truck was hit

by a train early this morning.

This Morning Michael David Perdue of Narrows
collided with the train at the Lurich
Road Crossing in Narrows shortly after
three thirty.

The train hit the driver's side
door and pushed the vehicle down the
tracks.

The truck came to rest between
Lurich and Robertson Mountain Roads.

Perdue was airlifted to Roanoke
Memorial and is listed in good
condition.

It appears the signals at the
crossing were working at the time of
the accident.

methamphetamine in western Virginia.

Law enforcement officials met with
Warner, Congressman Bob Goodlatte and
U-S Attorney John Brownlee yesterday at
James Madison University to discuss the
growing problem.

Police say meth arrests in Augusta
County have multiplied tenfold in just
four years as demand grows for the
drug, which sells for up to 12-hundred
dollars an ounce in the Shenandoah
Valley.

In Washington County in southwest
Virginia, police have already busted
ten meth labs this year.

Runzheimer International reports
that Roanoke's annual auto insurance
premiums averaged 758

dollars during an eight-to-10-month
period last year.


That's compared with over 51-hundred
dollars in Detroit, the most expensive
city.

Runzheimer evaluated mid-sized sedans
driven in a 50-mile radius of a city.

The average rates include
comprehensive, collision, bodily
injury, property damage and uninsured
motorist coverage.

Insurance agents say insurance
premimums are higher in larger cities
and areas with higher crime rates.

Dazzle Guard < basketball here in the states. After
leaving college in Seoul a year early,
he was discovered by Dazzle Coach Kent
Davison at a summer camp. Davison made

Bang a fourth round selection in the
D-league draft.

Virginia Tech senior Gilbert Lee has
been hired by the Dazzle to translate
for Bang, but the language of hoops is
universal.

TRAVIS: Despite being thousands of
miles away from home, the 22 year old
Bang has had little trouble making
friends here in the Valley.

Rim, has meant becoming self
sufficient, while learning to enjoy a
much different culture.

Bang has averaged around 12 points per
game this season in 35 appearances with
the Dazzle. Like his teammates, he's
