designated a 15 mile stretch of I-81 as
a highway safety corridor.

It runs from Salem to the New River
Valley.
Drivers caught speeding in this zone
face fines ranging from 200 to 25
hundred dollars.

The numbers jumped significantly
between 2000 and 2003 and then

face heftier fines in the safety zone.

they've changed their driving habits.
While these results are promising,
the state acknowledges it could be
years before it can say the safety zone
