Buena Vista Sheriff << It happened February 25th, a
1:25 Friday afternoon.
The prisoner had been denied
bond. That meant Jerry Wayne Ruley was
facing at least the weekend in jail.
While Deputy Randy Chittum was
unlocking the back door of the
Sheriff's Office, Ruley got the
officer's gun away from him.
Special Prosecutor Joel Branscom
says Ruley shot himself. He says
whether Ruley meant for the gun to go
off or not, it was not the Deputy's
fault.

brother had had his hands cuffed BEHIND
him, he'd still be alive. Sheriff
Hamilton says it's extremely difficult
to cuff a prisoner that way and still
get a seat belt on him for the 10-mile
ride to the jail.

April 4, 2003 Several people were injured when a
haywagon crashed into a parked
construction trailer in April of 2003.
Now, three of the victims, Michelle
Norris and David and Phyliss Brown are
suing the Homestead for a total of more
than TWO MILLION dollars.
All three claim they suffered severe
physical and emotional damage from the
accident.
The Homestead says it has NOT seen the
lawsuits yet, and therefore cannot
comment at this time.

Toyota set up a million dollar
simulated race team rig behind the

Not only did kids see what it
