ENG#=1 I-81's safety zone will be released
later today.
However, some preliminary numbers
have already been released.

15 months ago, the state
designated a 15 mile stretch from Salem
to Chrstiansburg as a highway safety
corridor.
Drivers caught speeding in this
corridor face heftier fines.
Preliminary data suggests since
the safety zone was created the number
of accidents in that area has leveled
off.

A new school superintendent has
been named in Botetourt County.
In this morning's Education 7
report, a three and a half month search
is finally over.

Dr. Tony Brads was named to the
position.
Brads is currently the county's
supervisor of secondary education.
The school board wouldn't
disclose how *many* people applied for
the job, but says Brads was choosen
from five-finalists, including some
current superintendents.

another federal grant, this time for
just under a million dollars.
The money will be used to help
repave and widen the runway.
Construction is expected to begin
this summer
In recent months, Congressman
Rick Boucher has helped the facility
find 3-million dollars for a total
makeover.
Officials hope the changes will
bring more business to Carroll and
Grayson Counties.

T-W-M Cabling Solutions will
build a facility in Danville that will
create 50 new jobs.

Parents may then get more

say it's necessary to protect Virginia
students.

The group may be involved in

their front porch twice this week.

After the bear rummaged through
the trash for about a half an hour-
Penny's husband threw a "cupcake" onto
the porch- and the bear climbed up and
ate it.
Game officials say you should
never feed a bear.
It's against state regulations.

ENG#=3 has decided to sue VDOT.

Susan Powers is the owner of
Botetourt Gymnastics Academy in
Daleville.
For the last several years she's
been in limbo, waiting for VDOT to
decide whether it would buy several
acres of her property off of exit 150.
VDOT gave Powers the official
word last night.
Powers' attorneys expect to file
the lawsuit by the end of the week
citing inverse condemnation- meaning
VDOT's actions have rendered the
property worthless.
