says it would be unwise to add on to
the current jail site in downtown
Salem.

The study says doing so could create
flooding problems and would be too
costly.

Renovation would cost more than 47
million while a new jail would cost
more than 88 million.

But the study says the county would
save more than 2 million dollars a year
simply by eliminating 50 positions with
a new jail.

meningitis.

Health officials are
investigating whether it is Bacterial
or Viral Meningitis, though they urge
parents not to panic.

Bacterial Meningitis is the more
serious form of the illness and can be
fatal or cause brain damage.

It's an infection of the fluid in
the spinal cord and brain.

The illness is NOT easily spread
person to person.

antibiotics.

a woman in the act of stabbing her
mother.

Officers responded to an
apartment building on Main Street
around 6:20 tonight.

They heard screaming and after

forcing their way through the door,
discovered the suspect stabbing her
mother with a knife.

45 year old Mahalia Jackson is
charged with malicious wounding.

Her 68 year old mother, who's
name was not released, was treated at
Danville Regional Medical Center.

Police say her injuries were
not life-threatening.

claims he gave her Herpes. Vick is
being sued for negligence and battery
and according to the lawsuit, Sonya
Elliot, a 26-year-old health care
worker, claims she was infected with
the sexually transmitted disease in
April 2003 after an unprotected
encounter with Vick at the
quarterback's home in Duluth, Georgia.

says she first met Vick in 2001 at
"Shadows" - a Virginia Beach nightclub.
While the lawsuit does not specify how
much money the woman is seeking, it

Vick's attorney has until May 6th
to respond to the lawsuit, which was
filed last month in Gwinnett County
State Court.
