County announced they were moving
forward with the regional jail project,
but initially the city will not be
involved.

The announcement effectively
kills the chance of the jail being
located downtown.

accept the majority of Governor Mark
Warner's bill amendments.

All but two of the governor's
budget amendments will become law.

That means increased funding for

places like the Virginia Horse Center
and Harrison Museum of African American
Culture.

Improvements at rest stops along
Interstate 81 may also be on the

more freedom to Virginia colleges and
universities also passed, but not
without words of caution from wary

his committee assignments.

Potts has angered some

Republicans over his decision to run
for governor as an Independent
Republican.

Lieutenant Governor Tim Kaine
ruled Virginia's Constitution doesn't
allow anything other than gubernatorial
amendments to be taken up during the
Veto Session.

night in a row.

That led us to ask what should you
do if a bear shows up in your yard?

last night at the Francisco's home in
Catawba- but this time there was no
food.

The Franciscos did what wildlife
officials recommend- they got rid of
their garbage can and the cat food that
was sitting outside..

looking for the suspect involved in a
driver by shooting that injured a 12
year old boy.

Pittsylvania County deputies say
the boy was shot in the leg outside an
apartment complex on Old Richmond Road.

They're looking for 29-year-old

Antoine Antonio Hall of Danville.

taken to the hospital after being
stabbed.

Police say two 16-year old boys
were walking along the Wildwood Road
around 6:45 yesterday evening when a
car stopped, two men got out and there
was an fight.

One of the 16-year olds was
stabbed.

He was taken to an area hospital
with what are described as non-life
threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made.

an inmate at the Rockbridge Regional.

February 25 A special prosecutor found the

suspect being taken to the jail that
evening had control of the officer's
weapon.

According to the prosecutor,
Jerry Wayne Ruley shot himself- -either
intentionally or accidentally.

Joel Branscom credits Deputy
Randy Chittum with trying to keep the
gun from going off.

from a beating.

third broke into a house along Randolph
Street and beat a young woman.

Now Johnson is in jail...facing
several charges, including attempted
murder.

The police department is urging

He's being held without bond at
the Rockbridge County jail.
