the world turned out to say goodbye to

ENG#=4 for the backup small chapel underneath St. Peter's
Basilica.
His final resting place is
between two queens, with the bodies of
other popes nearby.
The burial was private but the
funeral mass drew a huge crowd studded
with royalty, dignitaries and common
folk.
At least 300-thousand people
flooded St. Peter's Square and
surrounding streets, including
President Bush, the first American
president ever to attend a papal
funeral.
The service ended with the words:
``Lord, grant him eternal rest, and may
perpetual light shine upon him."

Buses were already rolling so

school until they could be sent home.
Police say several items were
stolen from the school.

Meningitis is a serious infection
of the fluid in the spinal cord and
brain.
The Health Department is trying
to determine if the student has the
most serious form of the disease,
Bacterial Meningitis.. which is rare
and can be fatal.
Health officials say you should
not panic, the disease is NOT easily
spread.
Only those who come in intimate
contact with a meningitis patient are
at risk.
Health officials are still
investigating.
Test results won't be back until
at least tomorrow.

The man police said was behind the
deadly bombing at the 1996 Atlanta
Olympics has agreed to plead guity.
(WALKING SHOT OF RUDOLPH)
The Associated Press reports--by doing
so-- Eric Rudolph will avoid the
death penalty.
In a deal with the U-S
attorney--Rudolph will receive four
life
sentences for the olympic bombing and
three other blasts.
One of those was the 1998 bombing at a
Birmingham, Alabama abortion
clinic....an off duty police officer
was killed and his wife--a nurse
was critically injured.
For Five and a half years--Rudolph was
the subject of a massive manhunt
in the North Carolina mountains where
he had lived. He was finally
caputured outside a grocery store in
his hometown of Murphy.
Under the deal Rudolph told federal
agents where they could find the 250
pounds of dynamite he had hidden in
Western North Carolina.
Agents have been in the region this
week detonating explosives.
In addition to the Alabama bombing and
the Atlanta attack that killed a
woman and injured 100, Rudolph was
behind the 1997 bombings at a lesbian
bar in Atlanta and another abortion
clinic.
The deal means Rudolph will not go to
trial.
Jury selection in the Birmingham case
had already begun.

Bedford County.
It happened about a half mile
from Jefferson Forest High School on
Hooper Road.
State police say a car hit a bus,
and a few students on the bus were
hurt.
Officials say their injuries were
minor.

of its newest charge.

The agency is now watching a
brown mallard duck and her nine eggs.
She set up her nest on a mulch
pile outside the main entrance to the
Treasury Department.
The Secret Service then put up
metal guardrails and a sign asking
people to be quiet around the nesting
area.
The duck's name has not been
released but the Treasury Department
calls her 'T-bill', 'Quacks Reform',
and 'Duck Cheney'.
The eggs are expected to hatch in
late April.
The government will then relocate
them to an unnamed location.
